Friday 21st February - Blue Skills Session 1:00pm - 4:00pm

£35.00

NOTE - NEW WINTER HOURS

Please note - this session is most suited to riders age 7 and over unless rider ability has been discussed with a member of the team.

These sessions are designed for riders who have already secured basic bike handling skills and are ready to take their technique to the next level. You’ll focus on improving skills such as cornering, navigating steeper terrain, tackling small drops, and hitting small jumps, as well as building the confidence to ride longer trails.

Before the session starts, we do a bike check to ensure everything is in working order, so you can ride with confidence. During this you’ll meet the team and get to know the coaches who will guide you through the session.

We start each session in our walled playground area, using fun games to the music as a warm up to get everyone comfortable and ready for action.

Our expert coaches will guide you through key techniques including:

• Stopping with control using back, front, and combined brakes

• Maintaining the right riding position to handle low obstacles overhead, ground obstacles, and undulating terrain

• Moving your body on the bike to absorb bumps, and navigate features like inclines, corners, and changes in direction

• Staying stable and neutralizing bumps and undulations on the trail

Throughout the session, we will use the pump track to develop our skills, helping you gain confidence and control. We will also venture onto our woodland trails, offering a chance to apply what you’ve learned on varied terrain.

The session will involve riding for short distances, typically up to 5 miles, depending on the group’s ability. It will take place on the Trail Academy’s private trails and pump track, as well as in the woods surrounding the school, ensuring plenty of variety and challenge.

Price per session is £35.00

Location:

Duke of Kent School, Peaslake Road, Ewhurst Surrey GU6 7NS

As you arrive at the school driveway, take the first right hand turning by the lodge house signposted ‘Sports’ and follow the road down to the gravel carpark on your right.

What to bring on the day: A Mountain Bike, a mountain bike helmet – in full working order (not BMX) and gloves, appropriate clothing (long trousers) and footwear including waterproof jacket (please be aware that clothing and shoes can get muddy by the end of the session so a change of clothes may be handy). Snacks and a drink.

We will conduct a safety check on all bikes and advise on correct set up before every course.

Regardless of age, ability or skill level the Trail Academy is here to help. It is our aim to make all our classes as fun and progressive as possible. We want everyone to learn at their own pace and have fun while doing it!
